Feb 1 - Week 4

 Overall:  

What a week!  Had a chance to spend 1:1 time with our CEO, Thasunda Brown Duckett (who we refer to as "T")

Takeaways from Week 1:

  • Preparation paid off (as always) for my 1:1 with T  
  • Banging away on gAIt (LLM)
  • Felt good about vitamin and supplement regime
  • Did not feel good about either exercise or music practice

Work:

  • Had great 1:1 with T
  • Completed 2025 goal setting for direct reports
  • Got great news that Catherine Reilly verbally accepted the offer to join my team as my 5th direct report
  • Got great benefit from working with gAIt (LLM) - amazing tool - truly!  Can't even fathom where this technology and capabilities are headed

Home:

  • Mini was away in Philly for her Dad's annual ceremony
  • Rahul was busy in Cambridge
  • I had the house to myself (yay!) 

Health & Fitness

  • Vitamin and Supplement regime was good
  • Walking was good in terms of climbing stairs.  But not the overall walking situation
  • Will make up for it this weekend

Music:

  • Let it slide - not good!  :-(
  • Will make up for it this weekend
Writing etc:
  • Worked with Ava (LLM) to summarize my memoirs and my business life essay - what a joy!
  • Worked with Ava to continue translating my musings

Social

  • Was vehement (maybe too much so) in my downplaying the Chinese LLM's announcement and impact on NVIDIA stock
  • Same again with the new administrative announcements on funding cuts
  • My view is - ignore the news noise - and stick to the fundamentals (takes discipline)
  • My staying away from random day to day news has been such a book - 3 months running (what a treat to freeing up my brain and mindspace)

Sports 

  • Continued to listen and analyze the Eagles chances in the Super Bowl - am enjoying the process
  • At work there is a FLY EAGLES FLY community - very nice!
  • Superstition - I am not playing the upcoming game over and over again in my head (I did that with the national election - that was not time well spent!  UGH!)
Travel Plans
  • Might have to dash to NYC for a jam session with T and Claire (our CHRO)

Entertainment

  • Watched Time after Time movie - watched it as a kid at the Rainbow Theatre in CBE.  The movie holds up - I must say!
  • Have been watching Feynman interviews on You Tube

Week 23 - Midwest Golf Tour June 2025

From June 9 through June 15, I participated in the Midwest Golf Masters Tour with a group of eight players. Over the course of one week, we played seven rounds across some of the most highly regarded public courses in the United States. The route took us from Kohler to Hartford, with time in Nekoosa and other points in between. Each course presented distinct demands and aesthetics, and the week offered a rewarding mix of challenge, learning, and shared enjoyment. The tour began on June 10 at the River Course at Blackwolf Run. I opened with a gross score of 102 and a net of 80, which served as a solid baseline to get comfortable with the pace and format. Later that day, we played a casual round at The Baths, a par three course that allowed for light experimentation and social play. Whistling Straits came next on June 11. I shot 105 gross and 83 net.
