April 12 - Week 14
Picture of the Week:
At the U.S. Capitol after the DC roundtable, post-“longevity literacy” moment with Senator Kaine’s team — a quiet snapshot of impact
Overall:
A week that felt like a full arc—travel, performance, reflection, family, advocacy, policy, and presence. I moved across cities, conversations, and contexts, but stayed tethered to what mattered: purpose, care, and clarity. From skiing slopes to Senate floors, from reverse drama to philosophical inquiry, this was a week of wide bandwidth. And yet, coming home on Friday, all I really wanted was a quiet Saturday—and maybe that’s the deepest wisdom of the week.
Takeaways from the Week:
• Strategic clarity and public recognition peaked this week
• Emotional intelligence and boundaries were tested and honored
• Leadership showed up not just in front of rooms, but behind closed doors
• I found myself moving fluidly between action and reflection, presence and pause
• A long-standing philosophical thread reawakened and reminded me of the deeper arc I’ve been walking
Behavioral Takeaways
• Surpassed my new hydration goal (80 oz/day)
• Renewed motivation to hit the gym
• Took intentional, restorative rest ahead of high-impact days
• Advocated boldly for a laid-off colleague despite uncertain outcomes
• Chose a quiet return home and honored the need for space
NOTES:
Work:
• Jam session with Micky and the CEO on research — real-time, unscripted, high-stakes
• Moderated BRG webinar on elder financial fraud — sharp, balanced, and well-received
• Introduced “longevity literacy” at a Senate roundtable — Senator Tim Kaine resonated with it, asked staff to act
• Set to publish the updated study next week and share with the Senate HELP Committee
• Supported new hire Catherine in delivering her first project pitch — she passed the test
• Reached out with empathy to colleagues affected by layoffs
• Reported back to Micky and other senior leaders — strong trust affirmed
• Advocated for Jen to join my team post-layoff. Micky responded with, “Great idea. How would you fund it?” HR and CMO colleagues are helping me think through next steps. Jen sits next to me in Boston, co-leads the culture committee, and is someone I deeply respect
