May 3 - Week 17
Picture of the Week:
Overall:
A high-octane week across multiple domains, work, music, thought leadership, and meaningful milestones. Each event carried its own tone, but together they formed a deeply fulfilling stretch. I’m grateful, a little exhausted, and satisfied.
Takeaways from the Week:
When everything hits at once, energy management and clarity of purpose matter most.
I found myself leaning on preparation and letting go of distractions.
Staying focused on the 95% that matters.
Behavioral Takeaways:
Stayed hydrated and mostly kept routines intact despite a packed calendar.
Sleep apnea mask still off. That needs correcting.
A reminder that personal maintenance is part of the long game.
NOTES
Work:
Facilitated a standout longevity dinner attended by influencers and thought leaders, with CEO Thasunda Duckett and CMO Micky Onvural present and supportive. David Nason’s “longevity blessing” framing resonated.
Co-chaired Wharton’s “Future of Healthy Aging” conference alongside Olivia Mitchell. Introduced Amal Abou Rafeh from the UN. Team member Andrew Gellert presented our caregiver paper.
Spoke to the final cohort of BU Humphrey Scholars; scholars from Armenia to Mozambique. Emotional moment marking the program’s end.
Continued managing internal dynamics—held the line with Bev while maintaining focus. The 5% lives in that room. My 95% lives elsewhere.
Home:
Stayed in the Philly condo mid-week, much better than a hotel. Gave a bit of breathing room in a demanding stretch.
Health & Fitness:
Hydration back on track. Not yet at 90 oz, but holding steady around 60–75. No major exercise this week, but a ton of walking in NYC and Philly. Still need to get back to the sleep apnea mask.
Music:
Brookline Music School Centennial Gala was a highlight. As board member and piano student, it was moving to be part of the 100-year celebration. Emi Ferguson’s performance was a standout.
Writing etc:
Finished Broken Country and wrote a thoughtful review. The novel grew into its emotional power slowly, but meaningfully.
Social:
Many rich conversations this week. Reconnected with familiar colleagues and met many new faces. Celebrated Anne Ollen’s 40th work anniversary, beautiful moment at the town hall when Micky gave her flowers.
Sports:
Nothing formal this week, unless one counts speed-walking between events.
Travel Plans:
Local mostly, but bouncing between Boston, NYC, and Philly made it feel transatlantic.
Entertainment:
The week was the entertainment. Next week, I may need a quiet night with a book and a cup of tea.
