Week 22 - June 8
Picture of the Week:
Riya graduation ceremony at Baldwin
Overall:
week of motion and meaning, institutions affirmed, family honored, identity explored. You moved through cities and roles, but the through-line was unmistakable: reflection with action. Whether writing, working, traveling, or sitting quietly beside a parent, you showed up wholly.
If this week were a genre: philosophical jazz. Improvisational. Rooted. Radiant.
Takeaways from the Week:
- Legacy is not a fixed concept — it’s composed daily, across stages, rooftops, boardrooms, and poems.
- Influence isn’t always quantifiable, but it’s unmistakably real.
- Moments of pause — even mid-motion — are where insight roots itself.
Behavioral Takeaways:
- A strong Plan B is worth its weight in calm.
- Exhaustion isn’t failure — it’s feedback.
- Thought leadership (like poetry) works best when it’s willing to be challenged.
NOTES:
Work:
- Trustee: Strong support for 30th anniversary celebration. Early skepticism gave way to enthusiasm — reminder to lead with facts and hold a graceful Plan B.
- Engagement: Midyear survey scored 85% overall, 100% pride, 87% inclusion — the highest ever. Culture pays dividends.
- OECD Invite: Received formal invitation to speak on longevity at the OECD in Paris this fall. A pivotal platform for global thought leadership.
- Self-Evaluation: Completed a diagnostic across the five pillars of thought leadership: Quality, Reach, Uniqueness, Independence, and Trust. Celebrated originality; identified amplification as next horizon.
Home:
Visited father in Princeton. Shared photos, time, and calm — a touchstone of perspective in the middle of a fast-moving week.
Health & Fitness:
Bought new Skechers for comfort — a nod to joint support and daily ease, especially in light of travel and upcoming golf rounds.
Music:
Revisited Unnai Arindhaal Nee Unnai Arindhaal by Kannadasan. Though long familiar, paused to absorb the lyrics’ deeper message: “Know yourself, and you will know all.” A lyrical Vedantic moment.
Writing etc:
- Wrote the poem Turtles All the Way — on the evolving AI-Self relationship, in reflective, playful iambic verse.
- Composed a full-length review of The ROI of Thought Leadership, weaving in metrics, mission, and Karl Popper’s view of falsifiability. Will inform July board discussions.
Social:
Attended Riya’s graduation (Mini’s niece, Rahul’s cousin) at The Baldwin School. Chapel ceremony, beaming family, and brunch with caricatures — a generational celebration of achievement and joy.
Sports:
Golf trip prep in full swing: gear packed, comfort items purchased, physical readiness prioritized. Plan to skip second rounds to stay fresh. A balance of performance and preservation.
Travel Plans:
Traveled Philly ➝ NYC ➝ Princeton ➝ Philly ➝ Boston — a Northeast loop rich in meaning and movement. Rewarding but taxing. Rest and reset planned before the next arc.
Entertainment:
Didn’t attend, but previewed a vibrant cultural summer: Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City and Riverside Park’s Hudson Classical Theater offerings. The city’s cultural season is quietly blooming.
